session six
Events:
(Jaeo 10)-
The team arrived in Vandarri once more where they claimed the bounty for Kurdan Tusk. They established the name Ex Umbra for this team. Katrina sold the fang she took from the colossal serpent, and the team did some shopping. They then discussed their next move as they looked back at the map they obtained when they first arrived in Perthshire to plot a route. After consulting the bartender they discovered that Malina island is completely under the control of an orc colony disrupting trade to Tanalor by patrolling the waters around Willendale. They also heard rumors of a orc killer in Tannis leaving behind bronze tallies with each victim. This killer is known as The Bronze Butcher. With all this information in mind, they headed to North Forge.
(Jaeo 24)-
In North Forge Shadoe was faced with what seemed like an impossible task, pretending to be interested in a history lecture while waiting not so patiently for Caelen to meet her. Caelen and Vethra began using a strategy involving Vethra pretending to be his sick little sister to get free drinks from the tavern… which somehow worked. Zane had to hold back Kat after some dwarven noblemen had been extremely rude to her, but Zane made sure this dwarf understood that there would be no second chances if he ever spoke to her that way again. Eventually the team gathered at Timothy Rell’s museum of dwarven history. They sold the schematics they retrieved from The Great Forge and Shadoe once again pretended to be interested in history while she took most of a tour before cleverly finding a reason to leave before the end. The team gathered in Heznick’s tavern when suddenly a portal opened. Pathe arrived, unintentionally revealing that she has some sort of shared past with Caelen and Shadoe before Caelen cut her off. She deliver letters to Zane and brought the team to Argus. Zane revealed that his letters informed him he would be having twins, and Caelen and Shadoe had a private conversation with Pathe. Vethra performed a song in the tavern and the crowd went wild, especially Pathe. They then headed to the nearby inn. Zane passed out drunk in the cart, Caelen and Shadoe shared a room, and Vethra and Katrina shared a room. Pathe said her goodbyes before teleporting back to Elbria.
Knowledge:
We learned A LOT. Here’s the bullet point highlights.
Katrina was raised in an orphanage by an elven woman named Elaris Dawn. She was the only lycari in the orphanage and developed a very close relationship with Elaris.
Katrina learned all of her skills from a book, being self taught in her technique.
Vethra told Shadoe and Zane that Caelen killed the colossal serpent. He claims to have no recollection of what happened.
Vethra claimed she knows where Caelens magic comes from and said it was dark and she wanted nothing to do with it.
Vethra said she gained her magic and knows of Caelen’s magic due to a summer camp that was “not as advertised”
Shadoe said she developed her skills from a family business of assassinations.
She said her father is dead and the business is gone.
Zane is having twins! A boy and a girl.
Pathe is a huge Vethra Veyn fan (she even has a vethra tattoo)
Pathe is the primary means of communication for the bounty guild and seems to have some connection to both Shadoe and Caelen
Pathe can only teleport 3 times a day and has been forbid by Wysper from teleporting to Mosphire until The Cult of The Forge is dealt with.
There are rumors of an orc killer called “The Bronze Butcher” in Tannis. He doesn’t seem to have any clear motive for choosing his victims
The dwarves of Argus live in the woodlands due to terrible mining accidents involving black powder which caused multiple cave ins. They had to evacuate the mountain and start a new kingdom.
Fort Xon on Malina island was build to house the remaining stores of black powder after a man in a stone devil mask and red cloak stole a crate of black powder.
After the Bludd massacre, it was refitted to hold orc prisoners, but now the orcs have seized control of the fortress, the island, and the surrounding waters.
The king of Argus wants to meet with Ex Umbra.
The Vibes:
Caelen-
Caelen still claims that he does not want to form a bond with the team, yet engages in small pranks and has begun to take interest in the personal lives of the others. He’s still rather closed off and focused on the mission, but maybe this team is rubbing off on him more than he’d like to admit.
Vethra-
Vethra was able to put on yet another show in Raeshidan, marking a solid start to her world tour, but reminiscing on the summer camp seemed difficult for her. Caelen’s magic reminds her of dark times.
Shadoe-
Shadoe finally moved past whatever seemed to be upsetting her at The Great Forge, and showed a bit of pride upon presenting the head of Kurdan Tusk. She was exhausted by entertaining Timothy at the museum but her dull day was made interesting when Pathe arrived. In private she even showed a bit of an emotional side when she spoke with Pathe.
Zane-
Zane seems stressed. Knowing he’s having twins and wondering if he’ll even make it back home in time to see their birth has left him both excited and distraught. Ultimately he is happy, but he can’t help but wonder what’s next for himself and his family.
Katrina-
Kat seems right at home. Finally breaking the silent tension she had with Caelen and making money has set her at ease. She bought a sword for Shadoe and shared bread pudding with Caelen. It seems that Katrina has taken a liking to this strange collection of characters.
